The children in the orphan-asylum near Chur, especially those that entered very young, showed exceptionally low incidence of caries, owing to the nature of the asylum diet, in which there was marked reduction in the amount of bread; high percentage of oat, as oatmeal, oat-soup, etc.; and abundance of vegetables and fresh fruits throughout the whole year.
